A week ago, New Braunfels received about 11 inches of rain over night. The rivers quickly filled up and the water started moving towards Seguin. Around 1pm our rivers and lakes were flooding out of their banks and the destruction began. Thankfully we had some warning and were able to get the campers off of the island and move Grandma Nancy out of the flood house.
Lake Placid Flooding
Several people lost their boats
Another boat bobbing through the muddy water
Watching the water raise over the island,
now the island is covered with 5 inches of mud.
This is the canal behind the island,
we are standing on the bridge.
The public boat ramp under I10 completely under water
Driving over Starcke Bridge on Austin St.
Heading towards McQueeny on 78
The Ski Lodge
At this time the water had already started to go down
Grandma Nancy's house in the middle of the river
And now for the aftermath:
You can see the water line on the house,
inside the house got about 2 ft of water
The fence must have been in the way
The mud and water left behind
Bath time anyone??
More mud
This shows exactly how much water got in the house
Rebuilding time, 4 ft of sheetrock must be replaced
